Used to refer to something small, cheap and ornamental such as gadgets or baubles
The thief mistakenly thought that he had taken valuable jewelry, yet it turned out to be a geegaw.
The first valuer told me that my ring was just a geegaw, but when I took it to the second one, he assured me that it was an antique.
The origin of this word is not clear.
1. The phrase is used to talk about the earth that is broken up and flattened by a harrow.
2. If somebody is under the harrow, he or she is forced to experience distress, or torment.
