Youngsters who are developing into adults tend to feel hungry and eat a lot.
A: My adolescent son's asked me if there was anything to eat though he had just eaten dinner one hour ago! B: Haha, a growing youth has a wolf in his belly, you know.
When I was a teenager, my parents tended to encourage me to eat more because they think that a growing youth has a wolf in his belly.
The origin of this proverb is not clear.
