To successfully influence someone so that they change their opinion
He flatly refused to tell me anything, but luckily I argued him down.
He is a successful salesman who has the ability to argue customers down.
To successfully bargain with others for a lower price of something
I'm hoping that I can argue the price of this house down.
What a bargain! These shoes costs $100 but I argued them down to $70.
The verb “argue" should be conjugated according to its tense.
