Not sit well (with one) phrasal verb negative spoken language
If something does not sit well with one, it is not acceptable, or agreeable to them.
That she wore bright clothes to the funeral didn't sit well with the people there.
Looking at her angry face, I know that my sense of humor doesn't sit well with her.
I won't date him because the man's manner didn't sit well with me.
It seems that my explanation doesn't sit well with my Mom.
It is mostly used in the present tense.
