Glued/rooted to the spot British phrase
Not able to change your body's position or do something as you are frightened or shock.
When the robber drew out the gun and pointed at my head, I was rooted to the spot.
When we arrived, John had been glued to the spot and said nothing as if he had seen something horrible.
He was glued to the spot when seeing his wife walk in the arm of another man.
The origin of this phrase is not clear.
