Reduce, reuse, recycle phrase slogan
Used to encourage people to prevent excessive waste, and minimize the consumption of resources to protect the environment.
The origin of the phrase dated back to the movement of becoming environmentally conscious in the 1970s. At that time, Americans were demanding attention for air pollution, waste, and water quality.
Gaylord Nelson listened to the people and decided to create the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. This historic day led to the foundation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that same year.
In 1976, Congress passed the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act to increase recycling and conservation efforts as waste became a bigger problem. It is believed that this slogan was born at this time.
Daughter: So I really want all my friends to have a great time. I was thinking it would be a good idea to have some candy out on the tables for people to snack on.
Mother: Well, if you want them to really enjoy themselves, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
