Rocky road (to something) phrase
A period of time when you encounter numerous difficulties and face lots of problems.
John has gone down quite a rocky road recently. His business went broke, and his wife divorced him.
He refused to help me when I was on a rocky road. And now, I do the same thing to him.
The origin of this phrase is not clear.
