Barmecide feast phrase
Something that appears or is believed to be excessive, bountiful, or luxurious but in fact, contains little or nothing.
All the money I had made on that app turned out to be a Barmecide feast.
A bowl of noodles that I ordered in that restaurant ended up as a Barmecide feast.
This phrase was formed based on the name of a prince in Arabian Nights who offers a feast to a beggar but gives him only empty plates.
