Candy is Dandy but Liquor is Quicker American quote
Used to appreciate a factor over a factor which you used as a bait to quickly come to your purpose. Candy and liquor often was used in this story , Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Basically, he (Willy) loves making candy (its dandy!) but in a business sense, liquor is quicker to make, therefore you can make more and sell more than candy.
To make a prey take a bait quickly, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.
Anyway, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker. I took him out for a few drinks and asked him over a beer whether I will be promoted.
This expression is a quote from the American poet Ogden Nash, from his poem “Reflections on Ice Breaking” in the year 1931.
The expression became even more popular after it appeared in the movie, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” in the year 1971.
