Latinx American formal
This is a gender-neutral term to tell about a person who lives in the US and who comes from, or whose family comes from, Latin America.
Ellie: Which ethnic group is the largest in America? Cam: The Latinx community is the largest ethnic group in America today.
Edward: Will you join the campaign with us tomorrow? Holly: Of course, the Latinx like me is always part of 'Black Lives Matter' campaign.
Chloe: Wow, what dish is it? It looks so yummy. Andrea: It's Churrasco, one of the Latinx special cuisine. Have a seat and eat up.
People should use the term in the approriate context.
Though it’s unclear when or how it began, it’s mostly tied to the early 2000s, with it reportedly appearing on Google Trends in 2004. However, before the term "Latinx" is popular, people used to use "Latino" (male) or "Latina" (female) to refer to a person of Latin American descent. At some point in the late 1990s, people combines two terms into “Latin@”— @ is the mixture of the “a” and the “o.”
