Poor little rich girl/boy/kid expression
(Often said sarcastically and unsympathetically) A kid who has lots of money or possessions, yet such that does not make them happy.
John is a poor little rich boy. Despite coming into a vast fortune after his dad died, he said a large amount of money like that didn't content him.
John was born into a well-off family, but he often feels lonely due to the lack of parental care and attention, the poor little kid.
The original “poor little rich girl” was socialite Barbara Hutton, heiress to the Woolworth (“Five and Dime” stores) and E. F. Hutton investment banking fortunes. She had a lonely childhood, seven failed— and in many cases, exploitive—marriages, and died a broken (and nearly broke) woman at age sixty-six.
